Latest information for customers

Customers are advised that they must wear a mask while in the communal areas of Leisure at Cheltenham. This includes in the corridors on your way to your exercise activity, and applies to children over the age of 12. If you arrive at the centre and do not have a mask they are available to buy at the customer contact desk.

You are also asked to download the NHS track and trace app as you are required, by law, to provide your contact details by scanning the NHS QR code displayed in the reception area. If you do not have a smart phone, our customer contact team will manually record your details which we will keep on file for 21 days.

Please be aware that we are not able to serve you and you will not be able to enter Leisure at Cheltenham unless you have recorded your details.

Swim info FAQs

I had booked a swimming session, what will happen to it now? 
Customers with swimming sessions that have not been able to go ahead, will be able to re-book for a future dates when the centre re-opens, the booking will be held as a credit on account.
Now you are closed what happens to my membership? 
Memberships have been frozen, your January direct debit will not be taken and no further direct debits will be actioned until the centre re-opens.
Do you have to close in Tier 4?
Yes, in line with the government’s Tier 4 restrictions, Leisure at Cheltenham is now closed until further notice.

When do children’s classes close for Christmas?

All courses, swimming, gymnastics, trampoline and diving, finish on December 19 and resume on January 4.

 

Are you running membership offers in January if I wanted to join?

Yes there will be membership offers from early January which will be promoted on our website and social media so do make sure you follow us.

 

When are you reopening?

Good news, we’re re-opening on Wednesday December 2. We’ll be open 6am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 2pm Saturday and Sunday. You’ll be able to start booking your sessions online via the leisure hub from Friday, November 27. We’ll look forward to welcoming you back.

 

What time is the centre open?

The centre opens 6am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. These times could be subject to change so please check our website and social media for updates.

 

Can I shower after my session as I’m going to work after exercising?

Dry side changing rooms, including showers, will be available from 6am to 10am Monday to Friday from November 2 for customers who have pre-booked gym sessions. These will be limited to a maximum of five in use at any one time in line with Covid19 restrictions. Each cubicle will be cleaned after every customer. Customers must bring their own towel and washing kit and ensure the changing room and shower is empty after use.

 

I am a member but nervous about returning to the centre, can you reassure me that Leisure at Cheltenham is adhering to the Government guidance?

We have received some positive feedback from members who have recently visited the centre since reopening. You can read testimonials here.

 

What facilities are you running?

We are running the indoor gym and a timetable of fitness classes. The gym has been extended into part of the sports hall with almost a full range of equipment and stations. There are both fitness classes led by an instructor and virtual exercise classes. Lane swimming sessions is also available. Family swimming has returned.

 

Will the changing cubicles be open?

Changing cubicles are available for everyone following their swimming lessons, subject to availability. Changing facilities are not available before sessions or lessons so please arrive at the centre dressed ready for your session.

 

Can we use the splash pad?

The splash pad can be used with the teaching pool by those who have booked a session in the teaching pool.

 

What is the maximum capacity of each session?

The maximum capacity per session is 30.

 

I’m coming with my family but not swimming, can I watch poolside?

No, the government Covid19 guidance does not allow spectating so you will not be able to sit poolside during lessons. Designated waiting areas are provided, you will be required to wear a face mask at all times while you are in the building. If you do not have a mask you can buy them at the reception desk when you arrive.

 

Will anyone else be using the pool at the same time?

No, the family sessions are dedicated sessions and the pool/s will be empty. Please be aware there will be no floats and no lanes.

 

I’m a member, why am I now having to pay for my child?

Due to reduced capacities required by the government’s Covid19 restrictions we are unable to offer free swimming for under 16 year olds.

 

Can I put my belongings in a locker while my child swims?

Lockers are not currently available so we are advising customers not to bring valuables with them and to bring only essentials for your session/class.

 

Will there be restrictions on numbers in the centre?

Yes. We will be limiting the number of people in the centre at the same time, so members can keep a safe distance from one another.

You will be able to book up to seven days in advance if you are a member and five days in advance if you are a non-member for the gym, classes and swim. Please be advised that only members who have booked for a session will be able to enter the building, do not arrive unless you have a booked session.

We will be limiting the number of people in the gym at the same time, so members can keep a distance from each other in line with government guidance.

 

How long can I stay?

Session time vary depending on the type of activity you will be doing, although the maximum time for each member is one hour. At the end of the session you will be asked to leave the building via the designated exit.

Do I need to download the Leisure at app? Do I have to pay?

We recommend that members download our Leisure at Cheltenham App which is free to use. We currently support any devices that run Android 4.4 and higher, or iOS 9 or higher. The app is a useful tool which will allow you to book your session and receive the latest information. Please use the app or go online to book your sessions rather than phoning to do so wherever possible.

How do I get in to the centre? Will I have to queue?

You will be able to access the centre via a queuing system and turnstile on the entrance. On your first visit you will need to collect your new membership card in order to access the gym or classes, as we have now replaced the fingerprint scanners with a barcoded system.

Please do not turn up more than 15 minutes before your session to allow everyone at the previous session to leave and for us to prepare the centre for the next session.

 

How will I get around the centre once inside?

We will have a clearly marked one-way system around the centre to ensure social distancing. There will also be one way in and one exit from the gym areas.

Will there be toilets available?

We have made two toilets available in the centre for your use.

 

What do I need to bring and what am I not allowed to bring with me?

We advise you bring a filled water bottle as there are no water fountains in use at this time. Vending machines will be available in reception, be advised you will need to use these on your way into the building as a one-way system is in operation.

Please do not bring a towel with you, these are not allowed at this time.

 

Can I bring a bag with me?

We ask customers not to bring bags or rucksacks with them as the lockers are currently not in use.

 

How will I know I’m safe?

All government safety guidance is being followed to ensure that our members and staff are safe within the facility. This includes limited the number of people in the gym and classes at any one time, reduced equipment available to help ensure social distancing, and providing additional cleaning and hygiene equipment for our members to use.

Please sanitise your hands when arriving at the centre and throughout your visit and avoid touching your face. Please do not visit the centre if you are feeling unwell or have any symptoms of Covid19.

Please clean equipment after you have used it using the cleaning materials provided. Staff will be on hand to help if you have any queries or concerns.

 

Further health and safety measures:

  • Additional sanitising units throughout the centre.
  • No towels will be allowed to be brought in; we will provide paper towels and wipes.
  • Bring your own water bottles as the water fountains will be out of action.
  • Self-cleaning stations will be available for you to clean your kit before and after your session.
  • Do not arrive more than 15 minutes before your session begins.

 

How often do you clean the gym equipment?

On top of our normal cleaning regime we will also be increasing the regularity in which the facility and equipment are cleaned as per the UK Active guidelines. Additional cleaning will now be carried out during sessions to ensure that our hygiene standards are kept to an exceptional level.

Members will be provided will self-cleaning stations so they can clean the kit before and after use.

A full deep clean will be conducted on a weekly basis.

 

Do I need to wear a mask inside the centre?

Masks must be worn in all communal areas.

 

Will there be staff in the gym?

Yes, to help keep members safe we will always have team members on hand in the centre to ensure the gym is clean and to support any members as required.

 

Why don’t you offer a specific time for vulnerable people to access the gym?

High risk people should follow government guidelines and advice on visiting the gym. Whilst operating under restricted occupancy, we are unable to offer a specific time for vulnerable people.

 

Will you be running classes?

Yes, we will be running a range of classes but we will be making some changes to keep members safe. These include spin, yoga, Pilates, Pilates 50+, HIIT, body conditioning and active circuits. The latest timetable is available on our website, please follow our social media to keep up to date with any changes and our latest news.

We will also be running virtual classes to provide regular exercise for as many of our members as possible.

Each class may have a different capacity and limits may change as we make any changes.

 

How often do you clean the class equipment?

The equipment will be cleaned as a minimum after every session. It is advisable that all members bring your own mat for yoga and Pilates as these will not be provided.

A full deep clean is conducted on a weekly basis and members are provided with self-cleaning stations so they can clean kit before and after use.

 

I can’t get a space on a class.

We will be reducing the class timetable and spaces so we can keep everyone safe, we therefore recommend that you book as early as possible. Sessions will be available to book up to seven days in advance. You can book more than one class for the following week.

We hope to start to increase availability when it is safe to do so. Class capacities will vary by size of studio and spaces operate on a first come first served basis.

 

Can I attend virtual classes?

Yes, we will a limited number of virtual classes and spaces so we can keep everyone safe, we therefore recommend that you book as early as possible as these classes will be limited in line with government guidance.

 

When will my membership payment start again?

Your monthly payments will start on your next direct debit date on 7 December.

 

How much will my membership be?

Members will be contacted individually by email, or telephone if we do not have your email address, with the details of your specific membership, depending on how you pay.

 

My membership has lapsed, can I rejoin?

Yes, we will be delighted to welcome you back as a member of Leisure at Cheltenham. Please email us in the first instance and we will be happy to help you.

Customers who had booked swimming sessions that will now not go ahead will be credited on account, and will be able to re-book for a future date when the centre re-opens. You do not need to do anything further, we will contact you when we re-open.

Prince of Wales Stadium Prince of Wales running track

The Prince of Wales running track is currently closed in line with national lockdown restrictions.

 

Squash Squash courts

Leisure at Cheltenham is currently closed in line with national lockdown restrictions.

 

Following the successful reopening of Leisure at Cheltenham gym and classes, we are now delighted to announce that the squash courts are open to members and PAYGO customers.

Sessions must be booked in advanced.
Members can book via the app, bookings page on our website.

– Sessions must be booked online and will last 45 minutes.
– Only members can book and sessions will cost £6. One player must be a member but non-members may play with them.
– Please bring your own racquets as racquet hire will not be available.

Guidance for parents/guardians

You will receive a trigger email allocating a space for your child. We will endeavour to place your child in the closest swimming slot that matches your previous lessons.  Please note lesson times may have changed.

The first direct debit payment of £22 will be taken from Monday 7 September. For more information please email – learntoswim@cheltenhamtrust.org.uk

When you have received your email with details of the class you have been booked on, if you cannot attend the allocated lesson time please email us if you would us to look at alternative options for you.

Before you visit, please be aware a one-way system is in operation throughout the centre and equipment is cleaned after each session.

Please turn up no earlier than 5 to 10 minutes before your class. This is to limit customer gathering time within the centre.

Training Provider Pay As You Go information

Leisure at Cheltenham is currently closed in line with national lockdown restrictions.

 

We’re pleased to tell you that we are now open to pay as you go customers.

As part of our phased re-opening, pay as you customers will be able to book to swim, use the gym, take an exercise class or use the running track at the Prince of Wales stadium.

Pay as you go users include concession card holders, those with swim memberships and swim book holders.

You will need to book sessions, please do not come to the centre unless you have a booking. You can book online or via our app if you have a leisure access membership. If you don’t and would like to sign up you can do so by completing the form below.

How much does it cost to use the facilities?
Prices vary depending on the facility you wish to use. When you book your session online, you will be able to see the prices for each facility.

Is there a limit on the number of times I can visit as a pay as you go customer?
No, you can book as many sessions as you wish depending on availability.

I’m a pay as you go customer but I’m under 16, can I use the centre now?
Unfortunately not at this time, our facilities are open to 16 years and over only.

Track Kickstarter Members

Leisure at Cheltenham is currently closed in line with national lockdown restrictions.

Following the successful reopening of Leisure at Cheltenham’s core facilities, we are pleased to update that we have reopened Kickstarters (11-15 years) and Kickstarter+ (16-17 years) members.

Sessions must be booked, please do not come to the centre unless you have a booking. You can book online at or via our app.

If you have not registered to book online, you will need your membership number to do so. If you are unsure of your membership number, please contact the customer services team who will be able to assist you – membership@cheltenhamtrust.org.uk.

Like before, there are supervised sessions times and specified exercise classes for Kickstarter (11-15 years) members.
