Customer update:

We’re pleased to confirm that from Monday 17 May exercise classes are able to resume indoors, following the government’s announcement of the move to step three of the roadmap out of lockdown. From Monday, classes will be running both inside and in the outdoor fitness marquee. Group cycling, piloxing, body pump and sessions using music and amplification will run inside with the quieter activities, yoga, pilates and tai chi in the marquee. The pop-up Fitstop café and the children’s soft play sessions move inside too.

The centre opening times are Monday to Friday 6am to 9.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am and 4pm. *Please note on bank holiday Monday the opening times will be 8am until 8pm.

Children’s swim, diving, gymnastics and trampoline lessons also resumed from Monday 12 April, and badminton and squash can also be booked. Limited capacities and social distancing requirements still apply and masks must be worn in the communal areas at all times, unless exempt.

Useful information

Will I be able to shower when I come for my exercise class?

From Monday 17 April showers will be available for gym users. Capacity numbers will be shown on the door for the changing area.

Can I use the showers if I’m coming to swim?

A limited number of showers will be available for swim sessions, these include, Splash and Swim and lane swimming, but please note, showers are not available for those attending swimming lessons.  Showers are only available after swimming sessions, not before. Please attend as previously in your swimming kit ready for your session.

How often are you cleaning the showers?

 The showers are cleaned at the end of each session.

Can I use a locker when I come for my exercise class?

 Lockers are available for those using the gym and coming to exercise classes in the dry side changing area.

Can I use a locker if I’m coming swimming?

Lockers are not available for swimming sessions, we are continuing to use the bucket storage system poolside for your belongings. Please arrive in your swimming costume ready for your session. Changing rooms are available for after your session.

Can I walk around like before the pandemic or is there still a route to follow?

 We are still operating a one way system and have barriers and signs in place to direct you around the centre to your activity and session.

 Do I still need to social distance and wear a mask in the communal areas of the centre?

 Yes, please continue to respect social distancing guidance, and to wear a mask while you are all communal areas (unless you are exempt).

I have a pushchair, where can I leave this while I’m taking my child swimming?

Pushchairs can be stored in the link corridor – please ask a member of staff when you arrive and they will direct you.

What are the centre’s opening times on bank holiday Monday?

The centre will be open 8am until 8pm.

Are we able to use the water fountains in the gym to fill up our bottles and stay hydrated?

Yes, from Monday 26 April you will be able to fill up your water bottles from the fountains. To keep everyone safe, please sanitise your hands using the hand sanitiser stations situated next to the coolers before using the water fountain. Only fill up your water bottle, the drinking fountain remains not in use. All other communal water coolers remain unusable.

I’ve booked a session at Prince of Wales stadium to use the track? What do I do, where do I go?

On arrival go the Leisure at Cheltenham and check in on the kiosk in the reception area. Follow the directional signs and enter the stadium via the metal gate on the right hand side of the building, which will be open while sessions are running. Walk down the ramp on to the track.

Are toilets available at the Prince of Wales stadium?

Toilets are not available at the stadium, however there are toilets in Leisure at Cheltenham open to customers.

We want to come swimming but don’t know what to book, what is available?

Splash and swim sessions are available in the splash pad and teaching pool and are recommended for under 8s.

Lane swimming in the main pool is available and is only suitable for able swimmers. The main pool has three double-width lanes with a maximum of 10 swimmers per lane, so a maximum of 30 at each one hour session.

Public swim and dive sessions are available in the main pool and diving pool and are suitable for confident swimmers.

Can we get changed after our swim? What do we do with our belongings?

Changing cubicles are available for swimmers to get dried and dressed after their sessions, please note showers are not in use. Lockers are not available, instead there are large plastic containers poolside to put belongings in while you swim. These are cleaned after every session. New access and exit routes are clearly marked. Lifeguards will take a register when you first arrive.

What age children can use the splash pad? I’m trying to book the splash pad but no sessions are showing up? 

The splash pad is recommended for children under the age of six, tickets for the splash pad also include access to the adjoining teaching pool, unless stated otherwise. The teaching pool is suitable for children aged under eight.

If sessions are not showing on the booking site, this means they are fully booked and are no longer available to book. Only available sessions, which can be booked, will be appear on the booking site.

What time is the centre open?

The centre opens 6am to 9.30pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday. These times are subject to change so please check our website and social media for updates.

What gym facilities are you running?

The indoor gym has been extended into part of the sports hall with almost a full range of equipment and stations. A full programme of outdoor exercise classes is available in the outdoor fitness marquee.

Are there any soft play sessions for younger children?

Yes, soft play sessions are available to book inside the centre from Monday 17 May. The sessions are 30 minutes and are suitable for children aged under six, and are £2.50 per child. These can be booked online.

Will there be restrictions on numbers in the centre?

Yes. We will be limiting the number of people in the centre at the same time, so members can keep a safe distance from one another.

Will there be restrictions on numbers in the gym?

We will be limiting the number of people in the gym at the same time, so users can keep a safe distance from each other. This means that there will be a maximum capacity of 70 per session.

How long can I stay?

Session times vary depending on the type of activity you will be doing, although the maximum time for each member is one hour. At the end of the session you will be asked to leave the building via the designated exit.

Are squash and badminton sessions returning too?

Yes, you can book to play squash and badminton from 12 April, however, this is only available within one household group, you cannot play with anyone from outside your household.

Will you provide customers with racquets?

We recommend that you bring your own racquets, but these are available to hire from customer contact front desk for £3, with a £10 deposit. Sanitiser will be available and customers are requested to clean racquets before and after use

Do I need to download the Leisure at app? Do I have to pay?

We recommend that members download our Leisure at Cheltenham App which is free to use. We currently support any devices that run Android 4.4 and higher, or iOS 9 or higher. The app is a useful tool which will allow you to book your session and receive the latest information. Please use the app or go online to book your sessions rather than phoning to do so wherever possible.

How do I get in to the centre? Will I have to queue?

You will be able to access the centre via a queuing system and access gates on the entrance. On your first visit you will need to collect your new membership card in order to access the gym or classes, as we have now replaced the fingerprint scanners with a barcoded system.

Please do not turn up more than 10 minutes before your session to allow everyone at the previous session to leave and for us to prepare the centre for the next session.

How will I get around the centre once inside?

We will have a clearly marked one-way system around the centre to ensure social distancing. There will also be one way in and one exit from the gym areas.

Will the changing rooms be open?

Changing rooms are available for after your session. You will need to arrive dressed ready for your session.

Will there be toilets available?

Yes toilets will be available in the centre for your use from 12 April.

Can I get a drink or something to eat while I’m there?

Food and drink is available in the new Fitstop outdoor café which is sited next to the fitness marquee to the rear of the centre. The café is open seven days a week, 9am to 5pm.

What can I bring with me?

Customers coming for swimming are allowed to bring towels. Please do not bring a towel with you unless you are booked on a swimming session as towels are not allowed for other activities at this time.

How will I know I’m safe?

All government safety guidance is being followed to ensure that our members and staff are safe within the facility. This includes limited the number of people in the gym and classes at any one time, reduced equipment available to help ensure social distancing, and providing additional cleaning and hygiene equipment for our members to use.

Please sanitise your hands when arriving at the centre and throughout your visit and avoid touching your face. Please clean equipment after you have used it using the cleaning materials provided. Staff will be on hand to help if you have any queries or concerns.

Further health and safety measures:

  • Additional sanitising units throughout the centre.
  • No towels will be allowed to be brought in; we will provide paper towels and wipes.
  • Self-cleaning stations will be available for you to clean your kit before and after your session.
  • Do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your session begins.

How often do you clean the gym equipment?

We have increased our cleaning regime, equipment is cleaned fully each morning and throughout the day.

Members will be provided will self-cleaning stations so they can clean the kit before and after use.

A full deep clean will be conducted on a weekly basis.

Will there be staff in the gym?

Yes, to help keep members safe we will always have team members on hand in the centre to ensure the gym is clean and to support any members as required.

Why don’t you offer a specific time for vulnerable people to access the gym?

High risk people should follow government guidelines and advice on visiting the gym. Whilst operating under restricted occupancy, we are unable to offer a specific time for vulnerable people.

Will you be running classes?

Indoor exercise classes are not allowed until 17 May. Outdoor exercise classes are being offered in the outdoor fitness marque and can be booked online.

How often do you clean equipment?

We have increased our cleaning regime, equipment is cleaned fully each morning and throughout the day. It is advisable that all members bring your own mat for yoga and Pilates as these will not be provided.

I can’t get a space on a session.

We are operating with limited capacity to keep everyone safe, we therefore recommend that you book as early as possible. Members will be able to book up to 14 days in advance, 10 days for non-members. You can book more than one class for the following week.

We hope to start to increase availability when it is safe to do so.

When will my membership payment start again?

Your monthly payments will be made on 5th of each month. This will be the same date as all previous payments.

My membership has lapsed, can I rejoin?

Yes, we will be delighted to welcome you back as a member of Leisure at Cheltenham. Please email us in the first instance on customer.contact@cheltenhamtrust.org.uk and we will be happy to help you.

Are you taking on new members?

We are currently accepting new members and are offering new memberships with no joining fee, quoting FIT2021.

When can I start running again at the Prince of Wales stadium?

Individual running sessions will resume at the stadium from April 19. Sessions must be booked online, social distancing regulations must be adhered to.

Latest information for customers

Customers are advised that they must wear a mask while in the communal areas of Leisure at Cheltenham. This includes in the corridors on your way to your exercise activity, and applies to children over the age of 12. If you arrive at the centre and do not have a mask they are available to buy at the customer contact desk.

You are also asked to download the NHS track and trace app as you are required, by law, to provide your contact details by scanning the NHS QR code displayed in the reception area. If you do not have a smart phone, our customer contact team will manually record your details which we will keep on file for 21 days.

Please be aware that we are not able to serve you and you will not be able to enter Leisure at Cheltenham unless you have recorded your details.

Prince of Wales Stadium Prince of Wales running track

The athletics track at Prince of Wales stadium is now re-open for running and you are able to book a session through – https://bookings.leisureatcheltenham.com/LhWeb/en/Public/Bookings

Sessions are one hour and are available weekdays 7am to 9am, midday to 2pm and 4pm to 6pm, and 8am to 10am on Saturday. Non-member prices are £4 for adults and £3 for a child.

Following the successful reopening of Leisure at Cheltenham gym and classes, we are now delighted to announce that the squash courts are open to members and PAYGO customers.

Sessions must be booked in advanced.
Members can book via the app, bookings page on our website.

– Sessions must be booked online and will last 45 minutes.
– Only members can book and sessions will cost £6. One player must be a member but non-members may play with them.
– Please bring your own racquets as racquet hire will not be available.

You will receive a trigger email allocating a space for your child. We will endeavour to place your child in the closest swimming slot that matches your previous lessons.  Please note lesson times may have changed.

When you have received your email with details of the class you have been booked on, if you cannot attend the allocated lesson time please email us if you would us to look at alternative options for you.

Before you visit, please be aware a one-way system is in operation throughout the centre and equipment is cleaned after each session.

Please turn up no earlier than 5 to 10 minutes before your class. This is to limit customer gathering time within the centre.

We’re pleased to tell you that we are now open to pay as you go customers.

As part of our phased re-opening, pay as you customers will be able to book to swim, use the gym, take an exercise class or use the running track at the Prince of Wales stadium.

Pay as you go users include concession card holders, those with swim memberships and swim book holders.

You will need to book sessions, please do not come to the centre unless you have a booking. You can book online or via our app if you have a leisure access membership. If you don’t and would like to sign up you can do so by completing the form below.

You can book and pay for sessions online via our website or app. Please note, you must be signed up as a Leisure Access member in order to use our online booking system.

How much does it cost to use the facilities?
Prices vary depending on the facility you wish to use. When you book your session online, you will be able to see the prices for each facility.

Is there a limit on the number of times I can visit as a pay as you go customer?
No, you can book as many sessions as you wish depending on availability.

I’m a pay as you go customer but I’m under 16, can I use the centre now?
Unfortunately not at this time, our facilities are open to 16 years and over only.

Track Kickstarter Members

Following the successful reopening of Leisure at Cheltenham’s core facilities, we are pleased to update that we have reopened Kickstarters (11-15 years) and Kickstarter+ (16-17 years) members.

Sessions must be booked, please do not come to the centre unless you have a booking. You can book online at or via our app.

If you have not registered to book online, you will need your membership number to do so. If you are unsure of your membership number, please contact the customer services team who will be able to assist you – membership@cheltenhamtrust.org.uk.

Like before, there are supervised sessions times and specified exercise classes for Kickstarter (11-15 years) members.
